Are you a private military contractor?

I want to know as much as I can about being a contractor. I’m considering doing it in the future. I know contracting companies usually look for former military and special forces training is always a plus, but I want to know what the actual day to day life of a contractor is like.
What country are you from?
What is your military background?
What company do you work for?
Are you supplied with gear?
Do you buy your own gear?
Does the gear just get mailed to you?
Where do you buy your gear?
Where have you done worked?
Do you eat and sleep on the compound?
How much do you get paid?
Whats the average salary of a contractor?
I know that on the record allot of contractors do VIP escorts, but is that really all a contractor does?

I’m sorry if I’m asking a bit much, but I like to know as much as I can about everything. Thanks in advance for all helpful answers.

I have worked as a PMC in the past and will again. I worked for KBR which is the largest and most well known PMC there is. Very few contract personnel are security types but the “elite” ones such as Blackwater or Armor Group are generally all former special operations veterans. The company will provide the gear you require and you will buy some of your own. Contractors do every job you can imagine in support of the US forces or State Dept. There are cooks, laundry personnel, concrete finishers, carpenters and truck drivers. The security contractors you seem interested in provide security for VIPs of course but the also guard convoys which is way dangerous.(personal experience talking) and do static security as well as train host country security forces ie police & military. The Baghdad Intl AIrport was guarded by PMC security when I left in 2004 and likely still is. Most KBR personnel will make around 80K and the security types more. The money is good but the risk is high. Most security contractors that i met were US or UK with the exception of Nepalese Gurkha’s which technically could be considered UK by heritage and training. You will eat and sleep in pretty much the same facilities as US forces but there are “safe” houses and off site facilities depending on what your mission is, not everyone can stay in the Green zone. If you wish to be an “elite” contractor I suggest you try to become a US SF soldier or US Navy SEAL/EOD sailor. Email me if you want.
